Jay Dee later changed his name to J Dilla was one-third of the Hip Hop group Slum Village and was also known for production for such artists including A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Busta Rhymes, Erykah Badu, The Roots, The Pharcyde and Common. Marivn Gaye died on April 1,1984 by a gunshot to the chest by his father Marvin Gaye Sr. and J Dilla succumbed to his battle with lupus in winter of 2006.
