TMZreports that Kanye West will make a appearance at famed pastor Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church in Houston for Sunday Service. It is set to to take place this coming weekend. TMZ states this will be a Sunday Service musical performance but more of a 20-30 minute dialogue with Osteen at the pulpit about how his life has changed. It’s reported that the rapper and pastor have become friends ever since Kanye has dedicated his life to Christ. Lakewood Church is a non-denominational Christian megachurch and is one of the largest congregations in the United States, averaging about 52,000 attendees per week.
Ever since Kanye West announced he was a reborn Christian he has held “Sunday Service” at churches and venues performed gospel iterations of his discography and other songs with choir group The Samples and frequent collaborators such as Tony Williams, Francis and the Lights, and Ant Clemons. Most recently he has performed at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church with pastor Jamal Bryant.
Kanye has met he share of criticisms over the past few years because of his support of Donald Trump and off bases opinions of why black people were slaves. It wasreported that Kanye donated a huge sum to Bryant’s church, but the preacher subsequently sent the sum to Morris Brown College – where West’s mother Donda worked as a professor.
Bryant admitted that Kanye’s support of Donald Trump meant he was unable to accept the money. “Kanye west project is incredible but his politics are indigestible,” Bryant captioned an Instagram video.
“The message after the music is just as important. Jesus is king and Trump is a jester. Our theology doesn’t match this administrations politics…the revolution won’t be televised.”
