Snoop has expressed interest in recent years that he wanted to purchase Deathrow Records the label that brought West coast Hip Hop to the forefront with acts such as Tha DoggPound, 2Pac, Dr.Dre, Lady of Rage, & Nate Dogg. Deathrow was purchased by Hasbro in 2019 then sold it to Blackstone for $385 million and Snoop stated “I would like to personally thank the teams at Blackstone, MNRK and especially David Kestnbaum, who worked collaboratively with me over several months to make this exciting homecoming a reality. As Snoop gears up to perform at the Super Bowl LVI halftime show in Los Angeles on Sunday February 13th with Dr.Dre, Mary J.Blige, Kendrick Lamar, & Eminem he'll be releasing his 19th solo album B.O.D.R. (Bacc On Deathrow) on Friday February 11th. He previewed a song featured on the album featuring Nas this week on DJ Whoo Kids radio show. Snoop released a statement about the Deathrow Records acquisition “I am thrilled and appreciative of the opportunity to acquire the iconic and culturally significant Death Row Records brand, which has immense untapped future value,” Snoop Dogg said in a statement. “It feels good to have ownership of the label I was part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the founding members. This is an extremely meaningful moment for me.
