MGM Studios announced that a cult film classic from the 1970’s will be remade. The film that they speak of is Cooley High that starred Glynn Turman (A Diff’rent World) and Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs(Jacksons An American Dream). The film was released in 1975, but was set in 1964 in Chicago, and rapper/actor Commonwho hails from the windy city will serve as one of one of the film’s producers via his Freedom-Road Productions.
There is no word if the remake will be set in present day or in the 60’s, and Common is slated to star in the film as well. MGM has yet to set a release date, but the script is in the works right now.
