And the beat goes on for the legendary producer J Dilla. February should be recognized Dilla month, as fans celebrated his birthday all month long for the contributions he made. Last week, it was revealed that the estate, in partnership with Mass Appeal Records, would release his long-lost vocal album, The Diary, which is currently slated for an April 15th drop.
Atlanta’s very own DJ Rasta Root dropped a tribute To J Dilla “The Rest Of DILLA” Vol.1 Mix the other day. Check out the mix here.
Today, however, we have on oddly under-the-radar release to share with you, as The King Of Beats Vol. 2: Lost Scrolls surfaced on Spotify and iTunes. According to iTunes, the album was released last Friday, February 19th via Yancey Media Group/Official Ma Dukes, likely for the purpose of bringing attention to The Diary. The Diary is comprised of 18 rare instrumentals, some the devout followers will find familiar, others that will certainly be new to you. Stream the album in its entirety below and be sure to support the album by picking up a copy on iTunes today.
