Super producer Timbaland released track featuring the late singer Aaliyah, “Shakin” on a Christmas Day mixtape by the producer called King Stays King. Aaliyah who was tragically killed in a plane crash more than 14 years ago at the age of 22 was one of R&B’s biggest stars and was starting to make her way to Hollywood. .
While the track also features sounds from Timbaland and emcee Strado, all attention is understandably given to Aaliyah’s hook. Her sultry and smooth vocals instantly take us back to the ’90s, while grooving to the beat and listening to her melodic storytelling of a man who keeps her shakin’ with his love makin’.
“Aaliyah.. This is for you baby,” Timbaland wrote on Twitter when releasing the link for his mixtape on Friday. According to Billboard, the project—which also features cameos from Young Thug, Migos, Rich Homie Quan, Tink, and 2 Chainz, among others—is intended as a preview of his forthcoming full-length, Textbook Timbo, which is due out early next year.
