The Film “Chi-Raq” Directed by Spike Lee Will Be Released In Theaters

The Spike Lee directed film “Chi-Raq” will be seen on the silver screen in major theaters. The film is backed by Amazon Studios.

This is the first film picked up by Amazon, they plan on releasing at least 12 films per year with a budget no more than $25 million.

Chi-Raq is a drama about inner-city gun violence in Chicago, film stars Teyonah Parris (“Dear White People,” “Mad Men”) alongside Nick Cannon, Wesley Snipes, Jennifer Hudson, Teyonah Parris, D.B. Sweeney, Harry Lennix, Steve Harris, Angela Bassett with John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson.

Director Spike Lee received criticism for the film’s title, but he quickly pointed out the week of July 1st-9th there were 331 people shot and wounded with 69 murdered.
