Former Governor faces criminal charges It has been reported by the Associated Press that former Governor of Michigan Rick Snyder will indeed face charges for the water crisis in Flint.MI. In 2014 at the time Snyder was governor he and state managers thought it would be cost effective by switching the city's source of water to the Flint River, even the water had not been treated, which lead to lead contamination. Along with Snyder, former health department director Nick Lyon and Rich Baird will also be charged. According to a spokeswoman for the attorney general have stated investigators were “working diligently,” and that they “will share more as soon as we’re in a position to do so.” Snyder and Lyon announced publicly in 2016 about the water contamination in Flint, however court testimony from urban affairs adviser Harvey Hollins was informed about it towards the end of 2015. Rick Snyder's attorney Brian Lennon released this statement “Rather than following the evidence to find the truth,” Lennon said, “the Office of Special Counsel appears to be targeting former Gov. Snyder in a political escapade.” The Flint Water Crisis resulted in 12 deaths and 90 cases of severe pneumonia. Rick Snyder has been out of office for 2 years and the charges brought against him and the two other individuals are criminal.
