Marvin Gaye & J Dilla mashup listen here Detroit is known for the soulful music rightfully so because it is the birthplace of Motown Records and also the home of legendary artists such as Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, and J Dilla to name a few. So D Begun blended together two of Detroit's finest with producer/rapper J Dilla and soul singer Marvin Gaye, and mashup is aptly titled Marvin Jay. Jay Dee later changed his name to J Dilla was one-third of the Hip Hop group Slum Village and was also known for production for such artists including A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Busta Rhymes, Erykah Badu, The Roots, The Pharcyde and Common. Marivn Gaye died on April 1,1984 by a gunshot to the chest by his father Marvin Gaye Sr. and J Dilla succumbed to his battle with lupus in winter of 2006.
