Russell Simmons To Produce Film On Def Jam's First Artist T La Rock

The film industry seem to have a growing interest in bringing some of the most iconic figures in Hip Hop stories to the silver screen with the success of Straight Outta Compton, Notorious, New Edition (even though their R&B, but they were influenced and contributed to Hip Hop), and the recent Tupac biopic All Eyez On Me.

Well, Fox has thrown their hat in the ring by developing a biopic on Def Jam founder Russell Simmons and the film will be titled“Life and Def: Sex Drugs Money + God.” Fox has enlisted Black-ish creator of the ABC hit series Kenya Burris to write the script and Simmons is on to produce as well.

The film will cover Uncle Rush (Russell Simmons) founding Def Jam with the rise of the Hip Hop culture and rap in America. No word yet on the release date of the biopic, but we will keep you posted.
