The SXSW Festival has had a list of bevy of performers and speakers from Prince, A Tribe Called Quest, & Bun B, but in the South By Southwest 30 year history have they ever had a sitting President and First Lady from the White House as their keynote speakers.
President Obama and First Lady Michelle will be in Austin,TX for the 30 year anniversary of the of SXSW fest.
On March 11, President Obama will join SXSW Interactive to sit down with Evan Smith, CEO and Editor-in-Chief ofThe Texas Tribune, to discuss civic engagement in the 21st Century and the growing need to fight climate change. Then on March 16 Michelle Obama will join SXSW Music to speak about her Let Girls LearnWhite House initiative, which is described as “a government-wide effort that will leverage the investments we have made and success we have achieved in global primary school, and expand them to help adolescent girls complete their education.”
