Yesterday Atlanta celebrated the life and times of iconic member of A Tribe Called Quest Phife Dawg at Songs In The Key Of Phife Tribute. Music Life Social had the pleasure to be in the building. It was a well put together event by his family and peers. The event line up includes DJ sets by Rasta Root, Kemit, Fudge, and special guest appearances. The deejay’s played real hip hop music and old school tracks and had the crowd on its feet, just how Phife would want it.
The best moment came when Phife Dawg’s mother Cheryl Boyce-Taylor who is a renowned poet took the stage. She shared her thanks to the crowd for showing their support through his incredible career and their continuous love with his passing.
The proceeds of the event also went to a good cause. to raise awareness about preventing Kidney disease and diabetes, as well as raise funds for charities Taylor supported during his life. 100% of the proceeds from the benefit will go directly to the National Kidney Foundation. RIP Phife you will live forever through your music. Thanks for the memories. Watch the the speech below.
