Netflix 2021 Film Preview
COVID-19 pandemic wrecked havoc on business worldwide, especially movie theaters. With most people staying home streaming services became the go to entertainment. On Tuesday, Netflix released a trailer previewing 71 new films to be released in 2021. The 3 minute trailer featured some big star studded names such as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Idris Elba, and Gal Gadot.
Among some of the titles given in the clip, Malcolm & Marie with Zendaya and John David Washington, Amy Poehler’s Moxie, and Red Notice with Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds, The Harder They Fall with Idris Elba and Zazie Beetz, Thunder Force with Octavia Spencer and Melissa McCarthy, the Halle Berry-directed Bruised, Army of the Dead, Outside the Wire with Anthony Mackie, Bad Trip with Eric Andre and Lil Rel Howery.
In a interview with Deadline Netflix Head of Original Films Scott Stuber talked about the idea of releasing a new movie on its streaming site every week has gone from an ambition to an official slogan.
“Three years in, I’m excited by what we’ve done, but we’ve still got a lot more to do, but I feel good about the progress we’re making,” he said. “Back then, it was, how do we get great filmmakers and great talent to work here, and now we’ve got Leo, Meryl, Regina King. I’m excited we’ve got Halle Berry’s directorial debut. We’ll have some great international films from people like Paolo Sorrentino, Jean Pierre Jeunet. What I liked back in my Universal days is, you could make different things. You could make A Beautiful Mind, The Fast and the Furious, American Pie, and that is what I get to do here and the challenge now is to make them great, and reach the highest quality and that is what you get when you have some of the most talented people in the world. The fun part is working with a lot of people whom you have a lot of admiration for what they do.”
