Mercston Releases Debut Album "Top Tier" Over the last two decades UK's Grime rap genre has expanded from the underground radio stations to mainstream recognition. Bow native Mercston has been one of the catalyst to help the genre keep pushing forward beyond the U.K. border. The UK is a melting pot of West Indian and African cultures and ethnic groups. Grime is a genre of electronic dance music[ that emerged in London in the early 2000s. It developed out of earlier UK electronic music style called UK garage, and draws influences from jungle, dancehall, and hip hop. Lyrics revolve around the grit and grime of daily urban life and street tales. Early prominent rappers from this genre of music includes Dizzee Rascal, Kano, Lethal Bizzle, Wiley, P Money, Ghetts, Jme, Skepta, Stormzy and others.
