With spring and summer approaching many music festivals have begun to announce their star studded lineup of legendary acts and up & coming acts, so The Roots Picnic revealed their line up and it is filled with some heavy hitters in Hip Hop and R&B.

The Roots Picnic festival post their 2022 lineup on Instagram, and they did not disappoint. Leading the way as the headliner and coming off an amazing halftime Super Bowl performance is 9 x Grammy winner Mary J.Blige. The Queen of Hip Hop Soul will be accompanied by Legendary The Roots Crew aka The Roots for those that are not familiar. Mary will not be the only R&B act on the lineup Jazmin Sullivan and Summer Walker will take the stage as well. The Soulquarians are doing a jam session with legandary 90’s group SWV, Keyshia Cole, & Musiq Soulchild.

Don’t worry Hip Hop fans because The Roots Picnic to make sure to put some of the most well respected lyricists on the bill. Frontman for The Roots band Black Thought, Grammy nominated Freddie Gibbs, Benny The Butcher, Rick Ross, and the legendary and iconic Rakim with DJ Jazzy Jeff on the 1s & 2s.

The festival organizers released this statement “This year, the picnic is a love letter to Philadelphia. Thank you for supporting us for 15 years. We’re bringing you a 2 day festival (!!) that represents the Mosaic of Black Culture. Music, Podcasts, and an experience unlike no other,”

Other artists that are schedule to perform are Robert Glasper w/Bilal, Masego, Kirk Franklin, Chief Keef and G Herbo among others. The Roots Picnic festival will be held for two days at the Mann Fairmount Park in Philadelphia,PA June 4th-5th 2022.
