On The Rise: Inkwell J Holding It Down For Long Beach

I never met her but by listening to her music, Inkwell J reminds of around way girl in the cypher spitting. The Long Beach, California lyricist is independent, can hold down the fort and has a vicious tongue.

Inkwell J was raised on the mean streets of Linden Ave in Long Beach where she honed and crafted her skills. Mos Def and Nas were heavy influences in her musical style.

She has made waves in the industry and has gained a following, sharing the stage with YoYo, Ja Rule, Lady of Rage and The Pharcyde. 2015 Inkwell J dropped her first EP titled Linden Ave to rave reviews.

One of the standout tracks is “Yum Yum,” with beat produced by J Proof (The Game, Jill Scott). J Proof takes the Lil Kim beat from “Crush On You” and adds a trap bass line. Ink rides the beat and makes it her own.

She can hang with the best of them because the versatility of her raw and gritty style. So be on the look out for more music from her.
