Grammy-award winning artist Thundercat has teamed up with Listerine to create a new song and limited-edition bottle design to support diversity in dentistry. The campaign, called the Whoa Collection, is also backed by the non-profit Increasing Diversity in Dentistry (IDID).
The song, titled “Whoa,” is a funky, upbeat track that celebrates the feeling of freshness after using Listerine. It features Thundercat’s signature sound, with a mix of jazz, funk, and electronic elements. The song is available to listen to on Soundcloud.
The limited-edition bottle design was created by visual artist King Saladeen. It features a colorful, abstract pattern that is inspired by the diversity of Black culture. The bottle is available for purchase at Target.
A portion of the proceeds from the Whoa Collection will go to IDID, which provides scholarships, mentorship, and other resources to Black dental students. The organization’s goal is to increase the number of Black dentists in the United States, which currently stands at less than 4%.
Thundercat is a vocal advocate for diversity in dentistry. He has spoken about the importance of having dentists who reflect the diversity of their patients. He believes that this can help to improve oral health outcomes for all people.
