Eric Lau is a London based producer that has worked with the who’ s who of the music industry such as Lupe Fiasco, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Chris Dave, Guilty Simpson, Oddisee, Muhsinah, Kaidi Tatham, Olivier Daysoul, and a family of artists from London including Dego, Tawiah, Rahel and Fatima.
This guy is well respected among his peers from the likes of Rich Medina, 9th Wonder, Bobbito, Dam Funk, Gilles Peterson, James Poyser (The Roots), Phonte and Ali Shaheed Muhammad sing the high praises about him.
In addition to his production work he is also a well-respected DJ having toured the world as well as supported acts such as Erykah Badu, Questlove and Robert Glasper.
Eric Lau made name for himself with the release of his critically acclaimed debut album ‘New Territories’, released on Ubiquity Records in 2008. His follow-up EP’s and instrumental projects in 2010, 2011 & 2012 saw him work with Grammy® nominated artist Muhsinah, Washington DC rapper Oddisee and Detroit native Guilty Simpson. The highly anticipated latest full length album “One of Many” was greatly received and was selected as one of the best R&B/Soul releases of 2013 by iTunes.
Eric blessed us with a early stream of his 28 track Album “Examples” set for release January 13th. To keep the suspense he only shared 5 tracks, but they are really dope.
This will be his third instrumental album and listening to the records they take you on journey. I felt like I escaped everything from around me and was on a path by myself. It is a excellent fusion of Hip Hop, Soul, Jazz, Funk & Brazilian beats. One of my favorite tracks is ‘Harmonic’, it reminds you of summer day cruising with your windows down.
If you can’t wait until the release date you can pre- order the LP atwww.ericlau.bandcamp.com. For now check out the 5 tracks from the Examples LP below.
