Dr.Dre to appear on Mt.Westmore album

Hip Hop legends Ice Cube, E-40, Too $hort, and Snoop Dogg made headlines earlier this year with the announcement of their supergroup Mt.Westmore and with much anticipation they also revealed their one and only feature as well. During a recent interview with HipHopDX E-40 and $hort Dog revealed that another west coast legend Dr.Dre will be featured on their album.

“Dre is on there, man,” $hort revealed. “He’s on there. Snoop got him on there. Dre is on there. That’s Snoop’s guy. That’s Ice Cube’s guy. They shot a big movie together. He’s on there. Ain’t no doubt about it. You don’t even got to ask him.”

E-40 added, “Definitely on there. Shout out to Dr. Dre,” with $hort confirming the feature is already done: “Yeah. He already did his part. It’s already certified. He’s on the project.”

These four artists have sold mutli-platinum records and won countless awards, so they talked about the recording process and the critiquing of each other being that they are accomplished as solo artists. Here is a statement from $hort explaining their chemistry.
“I’m going to tell you one thing, one beautiful thing about the process is that early on we all acknowledge that in the studio, we are supreme alphas,” he said. “We’ve always been that way, but on this project, we gave each other the authority to criticize, critique, veto, make suggestions, and just everything is like hands-down, I trust what you saying. It literally has been said, ‘Bro, that verse you spit yesterday was wack,’ and then bro go back and redo that verse, and like, ‘You came with it this time.’ It’s that kind of hold me up kind of situation.”
There was a situation with one of the songs where the other member felt Cube went a bit too hard and they let him know about his verse and wanted him to ease up a bit and in Cube fashion $hort said his response was classic.
“We told Ice Cube on one song, ‘Bro, you just went too hard, too hard,’” $hort admitted. “And he waited about a couple hours and then he hit back and said, ‘I’m not changing shit.’”
Bay Area legend E-40 chimed in “He did. He did! We was like, ‘Fuck it.’ Me and $hort and Snoop, we just … even Snoop say, ‘You know me, dog. I’m the easiest. You know me. I’m the baby of the bunch. I ain’t got shit to… I’m out of it.’ We was like, ‘All right. That is Ice Cube. Fuck it. Let him do what he do.’ We ain’t trying to water down shit. He going hard, too. Everybody going hard. We going hard on that bitch, just jam. It’s jamming, jamming jam.”
There has been no official release date on the Mt.Westmore album but we’ll keep you posted.
