Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller, Kevin Gates, and Rell assist Dj Kay Slay on Cold Summer

Legendary New York DJ Kay Slay also known as the Drama King is coming back on the scene with some new music and he brought some heavy hitters in Hip Hop. Kay Slay released his single “Cold Summer” that features Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller, Kevin Gates, and Rell. Cold Summer is the second single off his upcoming album The Big Brother, the first single Wild One was heavy southern appearance of artists that featured Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, and incarcerated rapper Kevin Gates.

Kendrick Lamar, who just recently won a VMA for Video of the Year for Humble off his DAMN album spits “She said, ‘N—a, I’m hoping’ you make your way out/ Before I make this Mac-11 do it for me’/ I know responsibility weighing down on my shoulders,” and also raps “Summertime always the coldest/ Do you dirty like the projects/ 25, then you are the oldest.” Mac Miller boasts on the track on how him and Kendrick on a song is bad news for other rappers. Kevin Gates raps about his relationship with his mother and growing up in the projects, but Roc-A -Fella alum Rell brings some soulfulness with his voice on Cold Summer.

DJ Kay Slay’s last album was in 2010 with the release titled More Than Just A DJ.The Drama King released his first official album Streetsweepers Vol.1 in 2003 and followed it up with Streetsweepers Vol.2 in 2004. The Big Brother will be Kay Slay’s fourth album release, which is scheduled for a September 29th release date. Slay’s debut single Too Much For Me released in 2003 that featured Nas, Baby, Foxy Brown, and Amerie, who was new to the scene peaked at #53 on the charts. Kay Slay teamed up with legendary DJ Greg Street for a collaborative album that was released in 2006 titled The Champions North Meets South.
