Yesterday the hip hop world lost a legend, Prodigy of Mobb Deep died due to complications of sickle cell anaemia. Mobb Deep was of of the best duo’s to out of Queensbridge in the Golden Era of hip hop in the mid 90s’.
Prodigy was known for his gritty street tales and boisterous style over rugged beats. He never backed down from a beef either from Jay-Z, Tupac, and Snoop. To his credit he helped forge the sound of New York hip hop.
Of the 8 albums they released, three would be the most influential, “The Infamous,” from 1995; “Hell on Earth,” from 1996; and “Murda Muzik,” from 1999. “The Infamous” would stand out to be classic.
DJ GQ412 aka GQtheDJ put together a selection of Mobb Deep’s best songs paying homage to the homie with Mobb Deep RIP Prodigy Tribute mix.
