West Coast Latino Hip Hop group Cypress Hill released their self titled debut LP in 1991. This album became a classic with lead singles “The Phuncky Feel One”/”How I Could Just Kill a Man”. They became the first Latino American hip hop recording artists to have platinum and multi-platinum albums.
August 2016 marks the 25th Anniversary of the release of Cypress Hill’s self titled debut LP, produced by Soul Assassin DJ Muggs. The album is heavy on the funk samples, providing a drum heavy backdrop to B Real’s nasal delivery and Sen Dog’s trademark adlibs.
Who Sampled teamed up with Wax Poetics to present this exclusive mixtape of album tracks, alternate versions and of course original sample material, mixed by DJ Matman.
Matman is an internationally acclaimed multi-award winning DJ based in London, specialising in Hip Hop, Funk, RnB, Disco, Reggae, Garage, House and all things soulful.
A DJ of world-class technical skill with over 15 years of club-rocking experience, Matman initially made a name for himself entering Hip Hop-based dj contests. Here he earned the titles of UK DMC Supremacy Champion / world finalist.
