Black Girls Rock! To Honor Rihanna and Gladys Knight

Rihanna is riding high off her release of her ANTI album and No.1 single “Work” that features Canadian rapper Drake, but it’s not stopping there because she will be honored at this years Black Girls Rock! award ceremony.

This is Black Girls Rock! Awards tenth anniversary, but it is the sixth televised event. Founder/CEO Beverly Bond created Black Girls Rock! annual awards gala recognizes the achievements of black female pioneers in art, music, philanthropy and community service.

Fellow 2016 honorees include producer/writer Shonda Rhimes (Shot Caller Award), R&B icon Gladys Knight(Living Legend Award), The Walking Dead actress Danai Gurira (Star Power Award), actress/activist Amandla Stenberg (Young, Gifted and Black Award) and Black Lives Matter founders Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza and Opal Tometi. Actress Tracee Ellis Ross will host the event.

Black Girls Rock! Awards to air on BET Tuesday April 5th at 8pm
