Legendary musical group New Edition story came to life earlier this year when the BET network aired The New Edition Story 3 part biopic in January. The biopic scored high ratings on BET with 4.4 million tuning in on the premier of the series and was one of the top twenty trending topics on Twitter.

The New Edition Story is based on the lives of the members of New Edition Bobby Brown, Ralph Tresvant, Mike Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, and Johnny Gill from their childhood to their rise to stardom. The icons from Boston story was supposed to came out years ago, but Bobby Brown did not want to sell the rights to his story, however as you can see things worked out for the group members.

Because their biopic was such a huge success BET is giving founding member Bobby Brown his own spinoff biopic series. Comedian an social media star Woody McClain who portrayed Bobby Brown will be reprising his role as the King of R&B. The news came this week when BET announced it on social media. The Bobby Brown Story is going to pick where The New Edition left off. The Bobby Brown Story will entail his surprise exit from New Edition when their careers were taking off, his romance with Janet Jackson, his highly publicized marriage to the late great pop icon Whitney Houston, dealing with his battle with drug addiction, and dealing with the tragic loss of his daughter Bobbi Kristina.

.To keep the story consistent with The New Edition Story, Abdul Williams who wrote The New Edition Story is returning and Jesse Collins will be executive producing this biopic like he did the first one. The Bobby Brown Story still has not cast key roles such as Whitney Houston, Babyface, L.A. Reid, Janet Jackson, and Teddy Riley. BET has not confirmed if the original cast members of The New Edition biopic will make an appearance Algee Smith as Ralph Tresvant, Luke James as Johnny Gill , Bryshere Gray as Michael Bivins , Woody McClain as Bobby Brown, Keith Powers as Ronnie Devoe and Elijah Kelly as Ricky Bell.

The Bobby Brown Story is slated for a fall 2018 release, Bobby Brown is most known for his hits “My Prerogative,” “Don’t Be Cruel,” “Roni,” and “Every Little Step.”
