Asha Imuno, rapper, producer, and songwriter dropped his highly anticipated project Pins and Needles. Off the success of the breakthrough hit “ZIG ZAGGING” garnering over 10M streams independently, Hip-Hop & R&B newcomer has made wave in the industry.
Imuno’s music delves into a range of experiences as a young black creative from the Inland Empire. His breakout single, “ZIG ZAGGING,” captures his duality with bouncy west-coast funk-inspired drums and soulful guitar riffs. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of our inability to escape our innermost thoughts and emotions: “zig zagging, runnin’ for cover in my brand new jacket, ain’t had it on me i don’t know what happened, wonder what if I meet lights flashing, black sadness, still zaggin…”
The multitalented artist seamlessly blends nostalgic influences from classic Hip-Hop and R&B with a refreshing take on new-age Soul and Funk sounds. His creativity knows no bounds, and his lyrical prowess is beyond his years.
The album is produced by Asha and close friend and collaborator Zach Ezzy (Jordan Ward, Alex Isley). The 22 year old California native has been surround by good music since a little kid. Imuno’s grandmother was a beloved pianist and music director in San Diego churches.
Asha stated, “It’s all about showing that I’m a real person with strengths, weaknesses, habits and contradictions,” he says of the music to come, intent to build on the reputation afforded to him by previous singles “PUSHING BUTTONS,” “DID I CALL AT A BAD TIME?” and “FLORIDA.”
