Harriet Tubman

There may be a change of currency when its comes to the $20 and the $5 bill. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew is expected to make an historic announcement regarding the $20 bill. Well, President Andrew Jackson who is currently on the front of the $20 bill will more than likely be replaced by Harriet Tubman who led Africans who were enslaved to freedom in the Underground railroad.

If Treasury Secretary Lew makes the change it will be the first time a woman and a African American will be on any form of U.S. currency. Although Jackson will not be removed entirely off the bill they may put him on the back of the $20 bill.

When it comes to the $5 bill the US Treasury is considering putting civil rights era activists and moments in American history on that as well. The Federal Reserve will make the final decision and when they give it the green light the Treasury Department wants the money to be in circulation as soon as possible.
