After Midnight Marauders drop it would be another 3 years before a Tribe would release another album with Beats, Life, &Rhymes. This album kind of got lost in the mix during the era where Biggie and 2Pac were at the top of their game. Outkast and Goodie Mob were putting the south on the map. A lot changed from 1993-1996, but this album brought Jay Dee aka J Dilla on the scene, and Consequence on the album as well.
The album went gold but was not a commercial success as the previous albums by industry standards, but it did produce the hit “Stressed Out” featuring Faith Evans, and we can’t forget the remix with Raphael Saadiq straight fire.
Their fifth LP The Love Movement would be their last movement together as a group. It’s 1998 Biggie and Pac were gunned down tragically in ’96 & ’97. Then 1998 comes and DMX brings the streeets to game and Big Pun is riding high with his Latin flavor. Then the cover of The Source A Tribe Called Quest is on the front with the title “The Break Up.” Many fans were heartbroken and shocked with disbelief. The group had to find a way to their own path as solo artist.
