10 Black-Owned Atlanta Restaurants You Should Visit For Valentine’s Day

It is that time year again to take your significant other somewhere special for dinner. Music Life Social has listed 10 outstanding black-owned Atlanta restaurants to visit for Valentine’s Day. If you are a last minute person and still looking don’t worry we got you covered. What makes Atlanta a unique city is our Black history and culture and dining is embedded in the city’s fabric. There are plenty of black-owned Atlanta restaurants that could be on this list, so we are not trying to throw shade.

1. Ms. Icey’s Kitchen & Bar

1371 Clairmont Rd, Decatur, GA 30033

Ms. Icey’s Kitchen & Bar in Decatur is a hidden gem. The skillet cornbread, and strip club wings appetizer is on point.  I would personally fight someone over that.   for a taste bud explosion!  The Caribbean flavor jerk lamb chops, and jerk ribeye is exploding with flavor.  Combine this with a wonderful atmosphere and excellent service you have something special.

2. Twisted Soul Cookhouse & Pours

133 Huff Rd NW #D, Atlanta, GA 30318

It’s Southern soul food with a creative twist, but more upscale. Executive Chef and Owner Deborah VanTrece culinary skills is art on a plate.  Some of the menu highlights Twisted Soul Cookhouse & Pours has become known for are creative versions of Southern classics such as Jack Daniels Pecan Honey Chicken Wings and Sweet Tea Baby Back Ribs.

3. Le Petit Marché

Le Petit Marché is a Kirkwood community staple and a Atlanta favorite.  The well seasoned scrambled eggs and tasty griddled cakes will put you in food heaven.  Also try the beignets, you will not be disappointed.

4. Local Green Atlanta

19 Joseph E. Lowery Blvd NW, Atlanta, GA 30314 

For people looking for healthy food options Local Green Atlanta specializes in vegetarian and pescatarian cuisine.  Zachary Wallace opened in 2019 near Martin Luther King Boulevard and Joseph Lowery in Vine City to bring the community some healthy dining options.  The “Notorious” Salmon or Shrimp Tacos are delicious.

5. Johnny’s Chicken And Waffles

3725 Main Street, College Park, GA 30337

Johnny’s Chicken & Waffles is new to the scene. Atlanta celebrities Ne-Yo and wife, Chef Crystal Smith, along with reality TV star Karlie Redd have teamed up to open the restaurant in College Park.  They have put a creative spin on their crispy chicken and fluffy waffles.  Johnny’s Chicken & Waffles’ guests will have the option to customize the famed Southern staple with mix-and-match proteins, plain or bacon-flavored waffles, sauces and add-on sides. Other sweet, savory and satisfyingly good grub include party starter Cheddar Drop Biscuits with whipped honey butter and strawberry preserves.

6. Gocha’s Breakfast Bar

Celebrity hairstylist turned chef Gocha Hawkins is serving up those Southern classics that make you  want to smack yo mamma.  Gocha’s Breakfast Bar is one of Atlanta’s top brunch spots with menu favorites such as  fish and grits, chicken and waffles, and breakfast pizza.

7. Table25 Fork + Wine

7475 Douglas Blvd, Douglasville, GA

Table 25 Fork + Wine bring upscale dining to Douglasville.   Their menu features a selection of dishes, of the most delicious combinations of fresh ingredients.  The Teriyaki Wild Rice Bowl is a perfect blend of wild rice, brussel sprouts, broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, avocado, sesame seeds, snow peas, and teriyaki sauce.

8. Negril Village Atlanta

Negril Village Atlanta brings the Caribbean flare to the locals in the heart of downtown.  You can’t go wrong with the Jerk Chicken and Waffles; it is the right amount spice and sweets.  They offer full bar and menu for brunch also.  Surprisingly Negril Village Atlanta is owned by Sim Walker, the mastermind behind Ms. Icey’s Kitchen & Bar in Decatur.  No wonder the the food is superb,

9. The Real Milk & Honey

The Real Milk & Honey will make sure their customers leave full and satisfied with their extravagant dishes and portion sizes.  They offer delicious Southern delights such as Vanilla & Cognac French Toast, and Deep Fried Salmon & Grits.  Oh don’t forget the honey biscuits, you will kick yourself if you leave without trying them.

10. The Corner Grille

College Park must be the go to destination for brunch.  The Corner Grille is another College Park restaurant that will have your mouth watering for more.  This longtime community staple brings New Orleans Cajun inspired dishes to metro Atlanta.  The Cajun Seafood Pasta, Lemon Pepper Chicken, and Blackened Ribeye Steak are excellent choices.
