If you always wondered what the Notorious B.I.G would sound like over a J. Dilla produced beat, well wait no longer. For the the record Busta Rhymes was set to host the first on-record collaboration between The Notorious B.I.G. and J Dilla in 1996. However, those plans got nixed due to tensions between the late B.I.G and Tupac. B.I.G used the opportunity to send to shots at Tupac, Busta removed the track entirely from his classic solo album, The Coming . This was a missed opportunity for hip hop.
Unfortunately The Ugliest track was never officially released. Fast forward 25 years later Seattle artist, D. Social put together a new mash-up project of a Biggie and Dilla’s collaboration. Of course this is his interpretation of what the may sound may have been like if these to legends linked up. On the 7 track Notorious Dilla EP, D.Social mashes up Dilla’s Detroit top beats with Biggie’s classic songs, including “Get Money,” “Party & Bullshit,” “Think Big,” and more. Biggie’s cadence matches perfectly over the Dilla tracks, it’s almost like a match made in heaven.
