Timberland Selects Nas For The Legends Club Fall Collection

Nas gets animated for Timberland Fall collection

When Nas said the line “suede timbs on my feet makes my cypher complete” from the Pete Rock produced song The World is Yours off the 5 mic classic album Illmatic.  The required Hip Hop footwear in the 80’s were the adidas shell toes, but in the 90’s Timberlands were a must have. Which it only made sense for Timberland to select Nas for there 2017 fall campaign The Legends Club. Timberland has partnered with Footlocker to release four installments of the Timberland The Legends Club Collection.

To start the campaign off for the boot collection a animated like video featuring Nas describing what the Timberland brand meant to him as child and the Hip Hop culture. “New York is a very stylish place; we don’t anything the regular way, we don’t do things to fit in,” Nas says in the clip. The rapper takes viewers through his neighborhood in Queens, as he reminisces about how influential the iconic boot was to him growing up. “Timberland is a household name, especially where I’m from. We used to go to Steinway Street in Queens — I used to put them on layaway, I used to do whatever to make sure no one else bought that size.”

 

The first pair to be released will be the Volume VII FLyRoam priced at $150 and will be available on September 30th, however reservations will be available on the Footlocker mobile app on September 23rd.

The Queensbridge MC already has a favorite one “The ones that I’m wearing now, these are hard,” Nas told Footwear News, pointing to the Volume IX on his feet. “The first time I saw this shape, they were shorter and they were green and brown. We called them the beef and broccolis. These are a touch of the beef and broccoli but high top. They fit good, they feel good and they look good.”
