Manhattan DA Reexamining The Assassination Of Malcolm X After Netflix Documentary A recent Netflix documentary "Who Killed Malcolm X?" focusing on the assassination of Malcolm X has opened a reinvestigation of the case. This month makes 55 years since the former Nation of Islam minister, Malcolm X, was assassinated Days after Friday's release the The Manhattan district attorney's office announced it would review the case after new information came to light. "District Attorney Vance has met with representatives from the Innocence Project and associated counsel regarding this matter," Manhattan DA spokesman Danny Frost said in a statement. "He has determined that the district attorney's office will begin a preliminary review of the matter, which will inform the office regarding what further investigative steps may be undertaken." The district attorney's office also stated it is working with the Innocence Project, a non-profit that works to exonerate the wrongly convicted. Historian, activist and investigative journalist Abdur-Rahman Muhammad is the Netflix documentary creator. According to his official website, Muhammad is a graduate of Howard University and has written for publications such as the Woodson Review and the Association of African American Life and History in the past. Muhammad said that he accepted Islam in 1986 and has dedicated more than 30 years of his life to uncovering all of the facts behind Malcolm X’s assassination. The has always been a widespread belief that the FBI, NYPD, and Nation of Islam has were involved the crime. Three men were convicted in 1966. Mujahid Abdul Halim (known as Talmadge Hayer and Thomas Hagan), Muhammad Abdul Aziz (known as Norman 3X Butler) and Khalil Islam (known as Thomas 15X Johnson) were sentenced to life in prison. Mr. Hayer, who later became Mujahid Abdul Halim, was shot and injured at the scene of the crime admitted his guilt but said the other two men were innocent. In the late 1970s, Mr. Halim filed affidavits naming four members of the Newark mosque as his partners in the crime. In 2010 Abdur-Rahman Muhammad revealed the identity of one of the supposed assassins named in Mr. Hayer’s affidavit, William Bradley, who had changed his name to Almustafa Shabazz.
