(Evan Agostini / Associated Press) Janet Jackson Two-Night Documentary Event Set at Lifetime and A&E On Wednesday A&E and Lifetime Networks announced a two-night, four-hour documentary event on Janet Jackson titled simply Janet. The documentary is part of their upcoming programming slate. The documentary is co-produced by Workerbee and Associated Entertainment and has been in the works for 3 years. The documentary will give fans a look into the life of Janet Jackson and her family after the loss of her father Joseph Jackson, who passed away in 2018. Janet will also detail the toughest moments in her life: the controversial 2004 Super Bowl halftime show with Justin Timberlake, her reaction to the death of Michael Jackson, as well as her experiences as a new mother. Producers were given exclusive access to archived footage and never-before-seen home videos. The Janet documentary is a part of A&E Network’s “Broader Focus” and “Voices Magnified” is part of a long-standing commitment by A+E Networks to social justice initiatives and empowering diverse storytellers, from the “Shining a Light” campaign focusing on race in America in the aftermath of the massacre in Charleston, South Carolina, to “Divided States,” an in-depth documentary focusing on ending hate in America, and more. The Voices Magnified campaign also includes on-going efforts across A+E Networks’ platforms including Broader Focus on Lifetime and HISTORY’s Save Our History and More to History initiatives. Broader Focus is Lifetime’s initiative to elevate the creative roles of women in front of and behind the camera. “The last year has taught all of us much about the world and our place within it, as individuals and as content creators,” said A+E Networks group president Paul Buccieri, speaking on the initiative. “Across our entire portfolio we’re reinforcing our strong foundation and will continue using our platforms to elevate relevant, resonant and diverse voices; telling their stories, focused on reaching the widest possible audience.
