Steve Rifkind brings back Loud Records

Legendary Hip Hop label Loud Records is relaunching with an all new roster and will be 100% independent. The labels founder Steve Rifkind gives some insight on going indie this time around “We’re distributing ourselves,” Rifkind said. “Building our own platforms. What we do is a distribution deal, which could be 90/10, 85/15, 80/20, and then whatever services artists need, we add on.”

The new Loud Records roster consist of New Orleans based duo $uicideBoy$ and Atlanta natives Loui and Baby Fendi. The first release will be from Loui with his single “Don”t Matter” featruing Toosii, which is schedule to drop October 2nd. Steve Rifkind’s younger son Ryrif is also on the label as well and is schedule to release his single “Run It Up” next month.

Rifkind further went into detail about airplay “Radio is expensive,” Rifkind continued. “What we might do is, if one record is really starting to go, I can make a deal with any of the majors and say, ‘Hey, I’ll give you XYZ amount of money or I’ll give you XYZ amount of points.’ I’m only going to need radio at the Top 40 level. I’m not going to need it at the urban and crossover level; we’ll be able to do that ourselves.”

Loud Records rose to prominence in the ’90’s with breaking legendary acts such as the Wu Tang Clan, Mobb Deep, Big Pun, Xzibit, and Dead Prez to name a few.
