Emcee Billy Da Kid is one of the best rappers to come out of Shaolin since the days of Wu-Tang Clan. The Staten Island native brings hip hop back to it’s rawest form with that gritty street sound. Now lets be honest hip hop has evolved and expanded since the golden era of the rap game. There are several flavors and styles in this day and age. Billy Da Kid shows his versatility as he can display the hardcore east coast flow, or the down South trap flow.
Greatly influenced older cousin Raekwon the Chef of the Wu-tang clan, Billy drops his new mixtape “History in the Making” with Shaolin grit on full display. Also he released the new single “All In My Bag” dropping some gems. So I had to venture over to his Soundcloud page to hear more and I was greatly impressed. The lyrics he spits shows he is hungry and eager to prove his weight in the game. This is only the half because if you listen to “Where Billy At” and “Hustle” this is true school hip hop representing the streets describing how young black males are trying to survive. Real music heads will feel the connection, and the blood, sweat, and tears in his content.
Check out a few of his singles below and be to check out his mixtape “History in the Making”.
