Music Life Social Celebrates International Women’s Day

by Raheem Karim

Music Life Social celebrates and supports International Women’s Day and A Day Without a Woman. Women are the cornerstone of family and society. For to long women have not received equal treatment, rights, equality, and justice.

Today Music Life Social want to recognize the value and accomplishments of women from all backgrounds. Woman have obtained achievements while experiencing greater inequities, vulnerability to discrimination, sexual harassment, and job insecurity.

On a personal note, I raised by a family on strong women who themselves overcame many hardships such as jobs without equal pay and raising kids as a single parent.

My mother and grandmother helped shape and mold me into the man I am today. They instilled the importance of education, treating women with respect, and being a active father in your child’s life.

There were years when my mother suffered from Persistent Depressive Disorder and could not work. She found a way to hold down the house hold and provide. As a kid my brother and I always received the hottest toys and clothes at the time. I am not sure how she did it, but she made it happen.

Eventually she was able to manage her disorder and earn her teaching certificate and Master’s Degree of Psychology. She also served as a active Civil Rights Activist.

May mother will always serve as my inspiration to overcome challenges and never give up the fight.

Women have made headway in different fields of work generally dominated by men. For example in the entertainment industry women have been behind so of the best movies and television series over the past decade. Just to name a few Ava DuVernay (Selma), Shonda Rhimes (Grey’s Anatomy).

Music Life Social would like to thank you for your contributions to society and let you know, you are appreciated. International Women’s Day should be every day.
