Real music rules supreme.  Rapper Dave East and Singer Solange released classic albums this past Friday, making this one of the best musical weekends of the year so far.

Rapper Dave East released his highly anticipated Kairi Channel 15 track LP and he did not disappoint.   The Harlem rapper built a strong fan base over the past couple years and signed to Nas Mass Appeal Records label. After great success of his critically acclaimed Mixtape “Hate Me Now” last year the stakes were raised.  He appeared on tracks with hip hop heavy weights Black Thought, The Game, and Freddie Gibbs earlier this year.

The new album features guest appearances from The Game, 2 Chainz,Fabolous, Sevyn Streeter, Beanie Sigel, and more. You can feel the pain, passion, and grit in every record. It has been a long time since you heard ethic & raw lyricism come out of New York, but the beauty of East is he very versatile with his flow.  East has put the East Coast on his back and is ready to carry the torch.  Think about this day and age how risky it is to put our an album without a real banger.  He really took hip hop back to the essence with his gritty story telling.  Hint hint does it remind you of anybody.

Solange really surprised me.  I have to admit I never been a huge Solange fan until now.  Always knew she was a talented song writer but this album is brilliant.   A Seat At The Table,  21 tracks written by Solange, with special guests Lil Wayne, Kelela, Q-Tip, The-Dream, Dev Hynes,Kelly Rowland with production by Raphael Saadiq.

In a press release, Knowles described the album as “a project on identity, empowerment, independence, grief, and healing.”.  The album had the internet buzzing about how good this album is..

The album also features Master P. and Tina Knowles on the interludes which digs deep on personal levels about social issues and surviving the hood.    This is a very empowering album for black culture.
