CBS Picks Up Pilot of The Equalizer Reboot Starring Queen Latifah

Queen Latifah returns to television

Hip Hop legend and actress Queen Latifah will be returning to the small screen again. It has been revealed that CBS will be picking up the pilot episode of the drama The Equalizer, where Latifah will play the lead role in the potential series. The new drama series is actually a reboot of the 1980’s show The Equalizer that ran on CBS for 4 seasons from 1985 to 1989.

Queen Latifah’s character is described as person who posses an array of extensive skills and protects people from any harm that have nowhere else to turn to. The original character was portrayed by Edward Woodward and Denzel Washington brought the same character to the silver screen with two The Equalizer films that were released in 2014 and 2018.

Latifah will serve as an executive producer as well through her Flavor Unit company, while her best friend and business partner Shakim Compere will oversee the company. If The Equalizer pilot is picked up by CBS this will add the networks reboots such as Hawaii Five-0, Magnum P.I., MacGyver, and SWAT.

The Newark, New Jersey native is no stranger to acting on television she most notably known for her role as Khadijah on the popular ’90’s sitcom Living Single that ran for 5 seasons.
