American Soul Series About Soul Train To Air In February

Soul Train inspired series comes to BET

The BET network just released the trailer for American Soul, which is inspired by the life of Don Cornelius creator and host of the iconic dance show Soul Train.

American Soul is a 10 episode series that will follow on how Don Cornelius developed a successful hit dance show and will also highlight the lives of the Soul Train dancers, and the artists that ruled the charts at the time as well.

NewcomerSinqua Wallswill portray the late legendary Don Cornelius, also singer/actress Kelly Rowland will star as Gladys Knight and soul singer Kelly Price plays Brianna Clarke who was a series regular on the show. Other cast members of American Soul are Jason Dirden, Iantha Richardson, Christopher Jefferson, Katlyn Nichol and Jelani Winston.

Soul Train made its debut in 1971 and ran until 2006 making it one of the longest running shows in television history. Don Cornelius was the host until 1993 when he wanted to be more behind the scenes. Soul Train has over 1,100 episodes. Cornelius passed away on February 2012 at the age of 75 and in 2008 he sold the rights of Soul Train to MadVision Ent.
